My Addiction: Roast Sandwich House

There's a little place on 110 in Melville called Roast Sandwich House, but I like to call it heaven. Roast has been serving up soups, salads, sandwiches and sides since they opened their doors in November 2010. It may sound like a typical Long Island sandwich joint, but the food at Roast is anything but ordinary!

Roast uses fresh produce and roasts all of their meats in-house. This means there are no cold cuts or processed ingredients in your food. This is VERY hard to find on Long Island and part of the reason why Roast is so successful. You can tell when restaurant owners put their heart and soul into the business. At Roast, this is very clear.

The best part about Roast is their daily specials (available Tuesday-Friday). Don't get me wrong, the regular menu is killer! But, the specials are out of this world! For example, today's special is a BBQ Rootbeer Glazed Shortrib Sandwich with Pepper Jack Cheese, Coleslaw, and Fried Pickles on a Soft Onion Roll. WHAT??!?!?! Sign up to receive email alerts for Roast's daily specials or checkout their Facebook Page.

If you're looking for something light on carbs, order one of their salads. I really like the Roast Turkey Cobb salad. You can also order any of their sandwiches over a bed of romaine or mixed greens. Just ask! I love ordering the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich over romaine. They use slow-cooked, pulled chicken rather than fried chicken and it's delicious! And for a side, definitely try the homemade, sweet potato tots!

Not only is the food at Roast flavorful and healthy, but it's cheap too! They have a 1/2 soup, 1/2 salad, 1/2 sandwich (pick 2) combo for only $8.99. You really can't beat Roast when it comes to lunch in the Melville area.

UPDATE (3/8/13): If my obsession with Roast wasn't clear enough, here's the segment that Restaurant Hunter shot at Roast including an interview with yours truly! :) http://fios1news.com/longisland/node/28061
